The idea, in one breath
Satohash proves that a file existed, at a specific moment, permanently — by anchoring its fingerprint to the Bitcoin blockchain, without the file ever leaving your device. It is a sovereign, open "civic notary": independent, verifiable-by-anyone proof of what existed, when, and unaltered. No middleman. No trust required.

This is the Tim Berners-Lee idea: a small, open, non-commercial technology that helps the world hold truth. An open, auditable commons that anyone can verify, no platform in the middle.
Why we are reaching out to you
We are honest about what we are not: we are not a company raising a profit-seeking round, and we are not a compliance product making legal promises. We are an open-source research and civic-tools project — building public infrastructure for governance, accountability, and truth — and we want it hardened and improved by people who understand the stakes.

- Review of our positioning and evidence claims (we are meticulous about not overclaiming admissibility).
- Guidance on jurisdiction-specific standing (US ESIGN/UETA, EU eIDAS, LatAm notarization cultures) — where a Bitcoin-anchored timestamp genuinely helps evidence, and where it must not be presented as compliance.
- Wisdom on running an entity-less, free, open project ethically and safely (server in Germany; identity intentionally undisclosed pending product audit).
🛠 For technologists & cryptographers
- Audit of our OpenTimestamps integration, the Merkle-tree anchoring, and the (coming) private-key authorship layer.
- Hardening of the client-side hashing, the calendars, and the independent-verification path.
- Contribution to a genuinely open, self-hostable tool — FOSS, no vendor lock-in, no hidden backdoors.

- Self-hostable — clone it, run it, verify it yourself.

Why this could matter for the world
In an age where anything can be re-tweeted but nothing can be trusted, the ability to prove "this existed, at this time, unaltered — check it yourself" is a civic utility. It protects:
